This is us!
David & Slavka, we live in town close to Sheffield called Oughtibridge in the UK.
Our business is wholesaling giftware in Europe - this (happily) involves quite a bit of travelling around the world establishing trading links with suppliers. Over the years we have developed a number of very good relationships with Indian suppliers many of whom have become good friends. So you can see why the idea of investing back into India seems like a good idea.. At least we hope it is! If it turns out otherwise at least you will be able to learn from our mistakes by keeping an eye on this site!
This is how our property looked when we found it in February 2006.

It’s a duplex apartment on two floors (2nd & 3rd) in a small development of 16 apartments close to Majorda beach in South Goa. About 15 minutes from the airport and one minute from a sublime soft sand beach.
The views from the front bedrooms and balcony are through palm trees to the beach and from the back a rural scene of paddy fields.
Our friendly developer intends to have the apartment ready for occupation by Christmas 2006 and the whole development including pool finished by May 2007.
Travelling around India is always a huge adventure and quite exhausting, but a few days rest and relaxation at the end of a trip in the more “european” Goa soon has our batteries recharged and us ready to face cooler climes. Over the years of visiting Goa we have seen huge strides in the standard of infrastructure and the rapid improvement in the general standards of living. India as a whole is one of the worlds super economies with a huge wealthy middle-class emerging. Since Goa is the subcontinents relaxation state of choice, in much the same way that Southern Spain is to Europe the investment opportunity appears unparalleled anywhere else in the world..
This website is designed not as an absolute authority on Goa but an insight in to one particular property adventure!
Feel free to email me with any comments: David

Updated (June 06) - see below
Update:
We made a quick trip back to Goa at the end of a business trip in June 2006. Partly to check on progress to our property and partly to see our new friends in Goa again. We also needed to select bathroom and kitchen fittings and most importantly choose our marble.
See progress on our home here.
Marble in India is affordable - no-one in the UK (except those with more money than taste) would have marble throughout property. In the UK it’s a) far to expensive and b) too cool for our climate.
In India Marble is surprisingly (even for India) cheap and perfect for the tropical climate. So we made a trip to the Goan Marble wholesale district.
All Indian Marble about it here.
Here’s a general update:
